CHADRON INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLDATA RESULTS REVIEW3RD/4TH GRADE TEACHERS

2016-2017 CHADRON INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL NeSA Results

Chadron Intermediate School is proud of the progress our students made on the 2016-2017 NeSA Math and Language Arts tests.  The result released by the Nebraska Department of Education show that 77% of the intermediate students met or exceeded proficiency standards in math while approximately 50% of the intermediate students met or exceeded proficiency standards in Language Arts.

The results showed that vocabulary is a strength which is a testament to the hard work of our staff implementing our school-wide goal to improve vocabulary.  Another area of strength was writing skills.  Number sense and algebraic concepts were areas to celebrate in math.

Although our Language Arts scores are lower, CIS is proud of the hard work of students, and staff.  We are moving in the right direction.  Studies show that when a new curriculum is implemented and a new test is administered, you will see a decline in scores.  CIS teachers are working hard to develop a plan through our Wonders curriculum to strengthen our students’ performance in Language Arts.  The lowest strands were comprehension and extracting meaning from informational texts.  Teachers are confident that students will be able to strengthen these skills through the rich and varied informational content of our new Wonders series which is currently in its second year of implementation.
